Children’s Ministry Team

Children’s Ministry Support Buddy (various age groups)
Description: The role of a Support Buddy is that of companionship and safety. Volunteers will be partnered up with children who require 1 to 1 support in order to attend our kid’s program. This could be for medical or behavioural reasons. but they learn early Biblical truths while at Waumba Land. Flexible scheduling available.

Waumba Land Leader
Description: Waumba Land has four classroom options to serve in: infants, toddlers, threes and PreK. We will set you up for success with an engaging lesson plan, snacks, activity, and a short video. Description: Preteens (Grade 4&5) are a unique age group and ‘The Launch’ has a special curriculum program designed just for them. We will set you up for success with an engaging lesson plan for the classroom, small group discussions, and access to a fun gym time! Flexible scheduling available.

Design Squad
Description: Bring your creativity to life by helping decorate for monthly themes and special events in Kids Ministry! If you love crafting, setting the scene, and making spaces feel fun and welcoming, this role’s for you! Individual would be invited to serve on a monthly basis – times are flexible.

Youth Tech Helper
Description: Love tech and want to make a difference? Join the Kids Ministry tech team—run slides, sound, and videos to help create an epic experience for our younger crew every week! Individual would be invited to serve on Sundays, flexible scheduling.

Newcomer Support Team

Newcomer Mentor
Description: A Newcomer Mentor welcomes and walks alongside individuals or families who are new to Canada and/or new to Hillside Church, helping them feel connected, informed, and supported during their first few months. Mentors offer friendship, answer questions, and help bridge cultural or practical gaps. Individual would serve bi-weekly for the first 3-6 months by checking in with Newcomer.

Spanish Translator
Description: Provide live or recorded translation of sermons and key announcements for Spanish speaking attendees, ensuring they can fully participate in worship services. Individuals would be asked to serve once per month.

Transportation Support Volunteer
Description: Transportation Support Volunteers provide rides to individuals in our church community, especially singles or families who are new to Canada and do not yet own a vehicle. By offering this practical support, volunteers help newcomers stay connected to church life and build meaningful community. Individual would serve occasionally, usually driving to and from the 11:15am service.

Guest Services Team

Greeter
Description: Greeters make the first impression count, welcoming each person with warmth and a smile. They help create an atmosphere of love, hospitality, and belonging. Individuals will be asked to serve at least once per month (at first or second service – your choice). Greeters are asked to arrive 45 minutes prior to the service time and will stay in place until 15 minutes after service begins to welcome any late-comers.

Usher
Description: Ushers create a welcoming and orderly environment by helping guests find seats, handing out sermon notes & communion, collecting offering, and being available to serve. Their presence helps people feel cared for and focused on worship/service. Individuals will be asked to serve at least one time per month (at first or second service – your choice!). Volunteers are asked to arrive 45 minutes before the service begins for a VIP team huddle and instructions and will finish 15 minutes after the service is done (to collect connect cards & for clean-up time).

Connect Centre Host
Description: Connect Centre Hosts are the friendly bridge for first-time guests and regulars alike, helping answer questions, provide info, and guide people to next steps. They create a space where everyone feels seen and supported. Hosts are asked to serve at least one time per month (at the first or second service – your choice!). Hosts are asked to arrive 45 minutes prior to the service time and will stay until 30 minutes after service is done.

Parker
Description: Parking Team is the first smile people see. They help direct traffic, make sure cones and signs are in place, ensuring safety and a smooth arrival experience (sometimes will need to open doors and/or help the elderly). Individuals are asked to serve at least one time per month in teams of three; a split serve of two 45-minute sessions prior to each Sunday morning service. Parkers are encouraged to attend the first service on Sunday mornings.

Decorator
Description: Support the Decorating Lead in preparing for seasonal events and holidays, helping to make Hillside a welcoming and beautiful place to visit. Individuals will be invited to serve on an occasional basis (3-4 times per year).

Care Team

Meals of Love Team
Description: The Meals of Love Team Member provides meals within the Care Ministry at Hillside. Meals are offered to families and individuals during a time of need and as an act of kindness. Individual would be asked to serve on a monthly basis and will be given flexible options.

Sunday Morning Prayer Team
Description: To provide prayer support to Hillside’s congregants within the context of the Sunday morning services. The primary purpose is to pray for people’s needs rather than being a counseling ministry (prayer in the moment, not extensive counselling). Individual would be asked to serve on a bi-weekly or monthly basis.

Online Prayer Team
Description: Provide intercessory prayer for Hillside’s congregants online prayer requests. Requests are received by email, may come in at anytime throughout the day, and the team member will provide intercessory prayer confidentially and by him/herself. Individual would be asked to serve on a weekly basis from home.

Benevolence Team
Description: Work together, under the leadership of the Benevolence Lead, to meet the wide range of physical needs of individuals and families, both within and outside Hillside’s church family. These acts of kindness could include moves, small home repairs, cleaning, etc. Individuals would be asked to serve on an occasional basis.

Benevolence (HELP) Team
Description: Work together to offer help to Hillside seniors/widows and single moms by providing minor home repairs and maintenance services. This serve will occur once a month, typically the third Saturday of the month.

Visitation Team
Description: This serve involves caring for others by providing comfort, care, and companionship through visitation at home or at special care homes. The member will provide encouragement and support to those who may feel isolated or alone. Individual would be asked to serve on a monthly basis.

Hospital Visitation Team
Description: Provide visitation to Hillside’s congregants who are in the hospital, serving as a member of the Care Team. Be willing to share some Scripture and offer prayer as is appropriate. Individual would be asked to serve weekly, as the need arises.

Errand Runner
Description: Be available to run errands for the Care ministry, including, but not limited to, the delivery of care baskets or other care touches, picking up a rose for our Rose Ministry, etc. Team Member will need a flexible schedule and access to a vehicle. Individual would be asked to serve on an occasional basis.

Growth Group Team

Growth Group Leader
Description: Leading/Facilitating a small group Bible Study of about 8-12 people. No Experience necessary. We will train you for success. Individual would choose the day/time of their group, and weekly/bi-weekly/monthly options.

Growth Group Host
Description: Host a Growth Group of 8 to 12 adults in your home. This does NOT mean you’ll lead the group. You provide the hospitality and someone else will provide the leadership.

Production Team

Camera Operator
Description: Responsible for operating a camera position during the service. This could range from the crane camera, mobile camera, or riser cameras. Individual would be expected to serve at least once per month. May be additional serving opportunities outside of Sunday services at special events or outside bookings.

ProPresenter Operator
Description: This position is in charge of running worship lyrics, playing videos and slides during the service. Those who have knowledge with computers would succeed in this position. Individuals would be required to serve at least one Sunday per month. May be additional serving opportunities outside of Sunday services at special events or outside bookings.

Stage Assistant
Description: The Stage Assistant is in charge of bringing props on and off the stage. There may be opportunities to serve outside of Sunday mornings, at special events or outside bookings. Individual would be asked to serve on an “as needed” basis. May be additional serving opportunities outside of Sunday services at special events or outside bookings.

Lighting Operator
Description: The lighting operator is in charge of creating seamless lighting changes during the service by using lighting software to fire cues at the correct time. They would also be open to learning how to edit lighting cues and programming them. Individual would be expected to serve at least one Sunday per month. May be additional serving opportunities outside of Sunday services at special events or outside bookings.

Food Services Team

Kitchen Team
Description: Three distinct opportunities to serve within this vibrant team!! We are looking for passionate cooks/bakers, servers (buffet or table style) and meticulous cleaners. Volunteers will be guided & supported by the Hospitality Coordinator. Tasks may include food preparation, cooking, serving, kitchen clean-up and/or dishes. Must adhere to Provincial Food Safety Regulations and all Hillside Kitchen policies. Individuals may be asked to serve a few times per month, flexible based on individual’s availability (any day of the week, daytime or evening).

Snack Shack Server
Description: Looking for volunteers to serve at our Sunday morning “Snack Shack” area. Tasks may include set-up/tear down of snack area, fill the display case with treats, take food orders and handle payments (cash only). Must follow proper food safety protocols at all times. Should have a friendly and welcoming attitude. Individuals may be asked to serve a few times per month, flexible based on individual’s availability (Sundays from 8:45-9:30 or 10:30-11:15am).

Coffee Host
Description: Looking for volunteers to prepare coffee, tea and water on Sunday mornings for our congregants. Ensure drinks are plentiful and all essentials are readily available (i.e. cups, lids, sugars, milk/cream). Clean-up required after the 2nd service (rinse pots and put away all essentials). Individuals may be asked to serve a few times per month, flexible based on individual’s availability (Sundays from 8:30-9:30 or 10:15-11:15).

Large Voice Choir
Description: The Modern Worship Choir is a dynamic extension of our Worship Team, created to enhance our worship experience during special services throughout the year. This choir brings added vocal energy and depth to our worship, helping to lead the congregation in passionate, Spirit-led praise. This would be a sporadic serve opportunity, 6-8 times per year.

Facilities Team

Set-up Crew
Description: Looking for individuals who enjoy room set-up and teardown activities. Tasks may involve lifting & stacking chairs, setting up tables, light clean-up & room reset after events. Must possess the strength and stamina required for these tasks. Individuals would be asked serve occasionally and only as required. No set schedule; daytime and/or weekends.

Description: Looking for individuals who have a passion and a knack to perform small and/or odd jobs. Must be able to work independently and must have previous experience. Social Media Aid
Description: Perfect role for trustworthy individuals who are savvy about Social Media (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok). They understand trends and best practices but most importantly, they love creating creative content to attract viewers. Should be available for a weekly meeting and create/share several unique posts per week.

Administration Team

Administrative Helper
Description: Provide admin support to help enhance the effectiveness of our church ministry. Duties may include folding & stuffing mail, data entry, event check-in, restocking connect cards in auditorium, packaging gifts, etc. Volunteer opportunities will take place mostly on weekdays between 9am-4pm and can be either weekly, bi-weekly or occasional basis.
