Stewarding our Resources to Further God’s Kingdom

Hillside is committed to building bridges with those far from God, generously extending blessing to those in need in our broken world, and helping each of us become a fully devoted follower of Jesus Christ. It’s our privilege and joy to partner together with God in advancing his kingdom cause in the world by using our financial resources through the local church.

Hillside's Living Legacy

VISION

The vision for Hillside’s Living Legacy Initiative is to be a force behind the future growth of the thriving ministries at Hillside. The goal is to encourage a culture of generosity through the many facets of stewardship and legacy.  This initiative has been created to help facilitate the establishment of a long-lasting legacy.

Some notable quotes to help get a better picture of the concept of legacy:

  • Carve your name on hearts, not tombstones. A legacy is etched into the minds of others and the stories they share about you. —Shannon Adler
  • The great use of life is to spend it for something that will outlast it. —William James
  • Your story is the greatest legacy that you will leave to your friends. It’s the longest-lasting legacy you will leave to your heirs. —Steve Saint
  • Legacy is not leaving something for people. It’s leaving something in people.—Peter Strople
  • The greatest legacy one can pass on to one’s children and grandchildren is not money or other material things accumulated in one’s life, but rather a legacy of character and faith. —Billy Graham
  • I glorified you on earth, having accomplished the work that you gave me to do. —Jesus
  • Please think about your legacy because you are writing it every day. —Gary Vaynerchuk

Despite the way that the lives and legacies of the famous grab our attention, every single one of us leaves a legacy.

We influence people every day by what we say and do, what we write, create and share, and all of that influence adds up. There are really only two types of legacies, positive ones and not so positive ones. May we use the power of our lives for the good of those we touch, from our own families to our communities, our church families and God’s work.

In the past many have already sacrificed to help Hillside become the place it is today.  Vision builds churches, but a CULTURE sustains them, a culture of generosity and engagement is what is being pursued. We are asking you to consider joining the legacy initiative to carry on your sacrifice and spirit for generations to come.

Some would have us think that legacy is simply a financial issue, and while that certainly can be a part of a legacy, it is by no means the only aspect of a noteworthy legacy. The financial side of a God-honoring legacy is something that we are asking you to consider, along with engagement to your capacity, serving in God’s work. Ask God to lead you in your path as you develop a legacy Surrender, listen and obey.

Our past is full of great stories of sacrifice and engagement We all have a story and a legacy to share with those who follow us.

OPPORTUNITY & PURPOSE

We all have an opportunity to ensure Hillside’s tomorrow, today.  Becoming involved in this Living  Legacy Initiative in the various aspects of a Legacy, you will be helping untold numbers of future residents, Greater Moncton and beyond, hear about the love of Jesus.  We all look for purpose in our life as we age, “will my life make a difference when I am gone?”  Many have gone before us and left a great legacy.  In 1974, members of Hillside, gave up so much, so that people they didn’t even know could meet Jesus.  It likely was very much a challenge to leave their long-established churches(3) and close those doors to open the doors at Hillside. They trusted God would take their legacy and make a difference. Each of us has the opportunity to do the same.  God will honor all our efforts as legacies are established, yes even financial ones.

PROCESS

Over the next period of time, we will continue to advocate for the establishment of a positive legacy both with our personal Christian lives and our financial resources. It is safe to say that each of us would want to have a positive legacy.

Speaking to the financial side of establishing a legacy, it can be relatively easy should you choose to join in this manner with this initiative.  There are multiple ways to give your gift, starting at any age.  You don’t need to be a senior to establish your commitment.  An individual can make a commitment to a charity, (in this case your church), regardless of one’s age, 20’s, 30’s, 40’s, etc.  in your Christian life. This can be done through something that we all should have, that being a will. There are other means to participate financially as well. Delegating a part of your financial resources will see that your gift lives on long into the future work of Hillside.

If you are interested in joining us in this initiative and would like to have more information please contact Dale Somers, Bruce Keirstead or Bryan Taylor. They will be happy to help provide you with further information as you consider becoming a part of this Living Legacy Initiative.
