Food Services

Kitchen Prep
Description: Help a team prepare food the day of or before a church/staff event. Mostly day-time hours, as needed (likely monthly.) Example of possible duties: peel and chop vegetables, baking, shredding cheese, putting meals together, etc. Must adhere to food safety regulations.

Kitchen Clean-Up Crew
Description: After church/staff events with food, this clean-up crew cleans and puts dishes away, cleans pots & pans, wipes surfaces down. Could be a monthly serve on any day of the week. Must adhere to food safety regulations.

Food Server
Description: Occasionally serve food (buffet style or table style) at church or staff events. Only taking place rarely (probably once per month). Must adhere to food safety regulations.

Description: Serving food in our new snack room on Sunday mornings. Includes set up, clean up, handling money. Should have a friendly and welcoming attitude. Expected only a once per month commitment from 8:15am-11:30am on Sundays.

Growth Group Team

Growth Group Leader
Description: Lead a group of 8 to 12 adults through a video-based study either weekly or bi-weekly. You’ll be given the materials, training, and a coach!

Description: Host a Growth Group of 8 to 12 adults in your home. This does NOT mean you’ll lead the group. You provide the hospitality and someone else will provide the leadership.

Hillside Student Ministries Team

Home Group or Table Group Leader
Description: Days and times vary. A Home Group or Table Group Leader will be friendly to the teenagers, while generating opinions and feedback from them on the faith topics that are being talked about in the curriculum/video series.

Home Group Host
Description: Days and times vary. A Home Group Host will welcome teenagers and their leader into their home, while providing a safe and comfortable place for them to meet and discuss faith topics.

Production Team

Camera Operator
Description: Responsible for operating a camera position during the service. This could range from the crane camera, mobile camera, or riser cameras. Individual would be expected to serve at least once per month.

ProPresenter Operator
Description: This position is in charge of running worship lyrics, playing videos and slides during the service. Those who have knowledge with computers would succeed in this position. Individuals would be required to serve at least one Sunday per month.

Lighting Operator
Description: The lighting operator is in charge of creating seamless lighting changes during the service by using lighting software to fire cues at the correct time. They would also be open to learning how to edit lighting cues and programming them. Individual would be expected to serve at least one Sunday per month.

Care Team

Meals of Love Team
Description: The Meals of Love team provides meals within the Care Ministry at Hillside. Meals are offered to families/individuals during a time of need and as an act of kindness. Requests for meals arise from various needs, illness, surgery, death of a loved one, etc. Participants are part of a large team of compassionate people, and each participant responds to requests as they desire and are not pressured to choose any particular ask.

Sunday Morning Prayer Team
Description: A Prayer Team Member provides prayer support to Hillside’s congregants after the Sunday morning services. The primary purpose is to pray for people’s needs rather than being a counseling ministry (prayer in the moment, not extensive counselling).

Set-up Crew
Description: Set up and tear down tables and chairs when we host special events in various rooms throughout the church (approx. 2 times per month). Can be physically demanding.

Description: You can choose infants, Age 2 or Age 3/4. We will set you up for success with an engaging lesson plan, snacks, activity and a short video. Children are not only cared for but they learn early Biblical truths while at Waumba Land.

Social Media Aid
Description: Perfect role for trustworthy individuals who are savvy about Social Media (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok). They understand trends and best practices but most importantly, they love creating creative content to attract viewers. Should be available for a weekly meeting and create/share several unique posts per week.

Guest Services Team

Greeter
Description: The Greeter welcomes each and every guest who comes to our doors with a warm and friendly smile! Our desire is to help people feel relaxed and welcomed, and to offer assistance to our guests if required. Expect to be scheduled about once a month at either the 9am or 11 am service (your choice.) Volunteers must be in position, at the doors, about 30-45 minutes before the start of the morning service and finish 10-15 minutes after the service begins.

Usher
Description: The Ushers greet and welcome guests with a warm and friendly smile each Sunday morning as they arrive in the Auditorium. They help guests find seats as they arrive. Soon they will be responsible to pass the offering baskets each Sunday morning. Ushers, as required, escort any newcomers to the Connect Centre. Expect to be scheduled at least once or twice per month at either the 9am or 11am service (your choice) Volunteers must be arrive 30-45 minutes before the start of the morning service.

Decorator
Description: Help decorate the main church lobby and auditorium during seasonal events and holidays throughout the year. Meet at the church for a few hours of music, fun and decorating (3-6 times per year).

Connect Centre Host
Description: The Connect Centre Hosts help newcomers fill out a Connect Card and hand out welcome gift bags. Hosts also help our guests sign up for upcoming Hillside events or group activities. They answer questions about our where programs are located, our Sunday morning services and can provide information for any upcoming events. Hosts can also assist people who are seeking further help (i.e. direct them to the Prayer Room or a Pastor). Expect to be scheduled about once a month. Volunteer opportunities are on Sunday mornings for both services (from 8:30am – 12:30pm).

Parker
Description: The Parking Volunteers serve in pairs and act as our “first line” greeters for any guests arriving at church on Sunday mornings. Parkers must greet and wave and make everyone feel welcome as they arrive. Assist newcomers with any questions upon arrival (i.e. parking / entrance). If possible, help with car doors for any front door drop-offs. Parkers also count cars in each lot around 9:10 and 11:10. The volunteers serve on a rotational schedule; a split serve of 2- 45 minute sessions prior to each Sunday morning service. Parkers are encouraged to attend the 9am service on Sunday mornings.

Coffee Host
Description: The Coffee Host volunteer prepares and serves coffee, tea and water before and after Sunday morning services. Ensures coffee and essentials (cups, lids, sugars, etc) are continually replenished. Greets guests with a warm and friendly smile! Expect to be scheduled about once a month at either the 9am or 11am service. Volunteers start 30-45 minutes before the start of the morning service and finish 10-15 minutes after the service is dismissed. All hosts are encouraged to attend the Sunday morning service.
